Service Details: Des was originally in the Waikato Mounted Rifles before joining the Royal New Zealand Air Force as a pilot. He was later remustered to Aircraft Hand (General Duties) trade and served in the Pacific with No. 6 (FB) Squadron working with Catalinas.

Date of Death : 6th of February 2011, aged 87, at Cambridge
Buried: At RSA Lawn Cemetery, Hautapu, Cambridge
