Personal Details: I believe Dave was the brother of Don Kemsley who also lived in Cambridge. His mother, Mrs Kemsley, also lived in Cambridge.
Service Details: Dave Kemsley joined the RNZAF in March 1943 with his first posting being at RNZAF Station Omaka, Blenheim. He was probably trained as an aircrew member and seems to have gone to Britain and was attached to the Royal Air Force.
He was one of the 1476 RNZAF personnel who returned to New Zealand aboard the troopship Andes, docking at the Port of Lyttleton, Christchurch, on Wednesday the 24th of October 1945.
Connection with Cambridge: Flying Officer Kemsley was listed as coming from Cambridge in the report about the return of airmen aboard the Andes in the Auckland Star dated the 22nd of October 1945.
He is also mentioned in the diary of fellow Cambridge airman Norman Rosser who knew Dave, and knew his family who lived in Cambridge.
