Personal Details: Ian was the eldest son of Mr amd Mrs J.C. Allan, of Williams Street, Cambridge. In 1942 he became engaged to Zoe Kendall Smith of Invercargill.

Service Details: Ian served in the RNZAF from the 13th of October 1939 till the 11th of August 1946, and continued on the RNZAF Reserve list till the 3rd of September 1970.

He served on various RNZAF Stations in New Zealand before being posted to London in February 1942. He served there till becoming an Accounting Officer on the staff of the RNZAF Liaison Office, New Delhi in January 1944.

He was awarded the Air Efficiency Award on the 30th of June 1964
