Service Details: Jack appears to have joined the RNZAF in New Zealand as an Aicraftman 2nd Class on the 20th of September 1943, and was reclassified as a Leading Aircraftman on the 15th of October 1943.

Following his Intial Training Wing course at (probably) RNZAF Station Rotorua, Jack then sailed to Canada for training under the Empire Air Training Scheme as an Air Gunner. He was attached to the Royal Canadian Air Force and trained at No. 2 Bombing And Gunnery School at RCAF Station Mossbank, Saskatchewan.

Jack was commissioned as a Pilot Officer on the6th of October 1944.
