Personal Details: John was the son of William Read McVeagh and May Helen McVeagh of Cambrige. He was the brother of fellow Cambridge airman Bernard McVeagh.

John was married to Juliet Jeanette McVeagh (nee Adams) on the 11th of November 1939. She was known as Jan.

John studied law at Auckland University College, attaining his Bachelor of Law degree in 1932, and his Master of Laws degree in 1933, with a first class in Roman Law, Contract and Torts, and Company Law. He was practicing law as a solicitor in Auckland in 1936.

Service Details: John worked in the ASD Branch of the RNZAF, continuing to practice law for the Air Force. He acted as judge-advocate in several Courts Martial.

Died: 10th of December 1986, aged 76
Buried: Paraparaumu Beach
