Personal Details: Richard was the son of James William Parker Benjamin Lucas and Olive Jessie Lucas (nee Mudford). He was married to Dulcie Nolene Lucas (nee Gibbs), and they had one daughter, Sharon Olive Lee. At the time of his death Richard Lucas was a Freezing Worker
Service Details: Richard enlisted as an Air Gunner, but before entering the Air Force he underwent the 21 papers correspondence course of maths, science, etc. It was announced in the New Zealand Herald newspaper on the 27th of March 1941 that he had passed the correspondence course. Also passing the course at that time were Cambridge Airmen Peter Hanna, Christopher Middleton, Roy Fisher, Cyril Shaw, Bill Stuart, and Andrew Sutherland.
Died: 13th of August 1981, in Auckland
Connection with Cambridge: Richard was called up for training from the Cambridge district so must have lived in the area.
