Connection with Cambridge: Ross was a Cambridge resident before joining the RNZAF in February 1943. He is mentioned in Norm Rosser's diary several times as being home on leave from the RNZAF in September 1943 at the same time as norm was on leave, and they were obviously old friends from their pre-RNZAF days
