Personal Details: Ted was the elder son of Mr Arthur John Stewart Richardson (who was incidentally a First World War veteran and in World War Two was an officer in the Cambridge Home Guard). Ted's younger brother John Richardson was also in the RNZAF.
Ted married Heather Gladys Scott (died 1985), and they had two children, John Scott Richardson and Julia Richardson.
Service Details: Ted Richardson was based at Whenuapai on one of the heavy transport squadrons, either No. 40 Squadron or No. 41 Squadron (or both), as a Flight Engineer in Douglas C-47 Dakotas. As he joined in 1941 he'd have started as a ground trade member, probably Flight Mechanic and then Fitter IIA or Fitter IIE. The trade of Flight Engineer was introduced to the RNZAF in 1943 and most in this trade were remustered from these ground trades.
Details of Death: Ted Richardson died on the 2nd of December 2000, aged 85
