Philip Stewart was born in Wanganui in 1917, and he joined the Royal New Zealand Air Force on the 1st of December 1940.<\/p>\n<p>Following his pilot training he travelled to Britain and was attached to the Royal Air Force, where he served with No. 91 Squadron RAF, No. 129 Squadron RAF, No. 616 Squadron RAF and No. 1 Squadron RAF.
