Wings Over Australia
Welcome to the Wings Over Australia Series. This is a special sub-series within the Wings Over New Zealand Show podcast that was recorded during Dave Homewood's special trip to Australia between the 11th and 29th of November 2015. This series came about from an idea dreamed up by James Kightly (of Vintage Aero Writer) and Grant McHerron (from Plane Crazy Down Under) who decided they'd like to get Dave to Australia where he can see some of the museums and aircraft collections, attend the Warbirds Downunder airshow at Temora, and along the way meet and interview many of the people who work behind the scenes in the Australian warbird and museum industry, plus a few veterans.
So the show is hosted by Dave with James Kightly as co-host, local guide and resident historian. The pair travelled to interesting places around Victoria, Canberra and New South Wales.
Wings Over Australia shows were recorded at:
- Moorabbin Museum
- The RAAF Museum at Point Cook
- The B-24 Liberator Restoration at Werribee
- Tyabb
- Warbirds Downunder, Temora
- Australian War Museum, Canberra
- Australian War Museum, Treloar
- HARS at Illawarra
- Royal Australian Navy Museum, Nowra
and several other places...
The shows are rolling out through 2016 along with the regular New Zealand shows, and as each WOA show is added to the schedule, a link is also placed here, above.
Many thanks to all those kind people who contributed to the Givealittle Fund to make this trip happen and make the series possible. Special thanks to James Kightly, Bev Laing, Grant McHerron, Peter Anderson, Errol Cavit, Matt Austin and Peter Costigan, and to all the great people along the way who took part in interviews and other ways to make the series happen.
